Registration notes:	From an old framed print of a mutton-chopped Highland chief signed 'Yours faithfully, Gordon Cumming.' donated by Jim McAslan in 2008. The 'Gordon' is not crystal clear and it could conceivably be something else and it's not known if that's the christian name or part of the surname. In favour of the latter is the fact that the tartan does have a similarity to the Gordon 1 tartan. The apron of the kilt is held down by three ornate 'silver' clasps. 1) For tartans existing prior to the introduction of the Register, the numbering system allocated by the Scottish Tartans Authority (STA) has been used. Where relevant, the Scottish Tartans World Register (STWR) reference numbers are listed for information purposes.

2) Not all pre-existing tartans included in the Register were recognised by the STA.

3) The registration criteria applied by the Register is different from the criteria applied previously by the STA and the STWR. Please refer to the STA and STWR websites for details.
