Tartan Details - Colchester & District Pipes & Drums

The information held within The Scottish Register of Tartans for the "Colchester & District Pipes & Drums" tartan is shown below.

Reference: 10181
Designer: Roy, John
Tartan date: 01/01/2010
Registration date: 22 March 2010

Registration notes: Colchester & District Pipes & Drums were formed in 2010. To celebrate the history of Colchester and advertise it to the wider community, it was decided to commission a tartan. The band was formed to promote Scottish traditional pipe music along with modern tunes. The sett for this tartan is very close to that of MacGregor of Balquidder (Logan) STR #2456. As the central green band is much thinner than the equivalent in the MacGregor tartan, it was felt that the design was 'sufficiently different' to meet the criteria for registration.
Information notes: To view woven sample, please request NAS6/O6/Oversize.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
