Registration notes: Designed by Michael Ross and David Waterton-Anderson for the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem which dates from the early 12th century and was established by Papal Bull in 1255. Its purpose then was the care of lepers among pilgrims and the Crusader orders in the Holy Land and Europe. The Order continues uninterrupted as a charity and as an Order of Chivalry. The tartan is based on the Order's coat of arms of a green cross on white with gold side-stripes representing the gold fimbriation on the Order's cross, set on black representing the cloak, all on the Order's dress colours of dark green.
