Designer: Ainsworth, Trudie
Tartan date: 26/05/2016
Registration date: 8 June 2016
Category: Military

Registration notes: The Royal Navy Submarine Service tartan was designed in collaboration between The Royal Navy Submarine Service and The House of Edgar. The red, white and blue all symbolise the RN and the yellow symbolises the coveted submariners' "Dolphins", the badge worn only by the select few who become qualified submariners. The tartan was designed to recognise the close link between the Submarine Service and its home in Scotland. The Submariners wanted their own distinct tartan to mark them out from other military services and to enhance their own corporate identity of the Submarine Service.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
