Registration notes: The Peak District National Park was the first UK national park established in 1951. The Peak District National Park covers 555 square miles and it was thought fitting that a tartan be designed to commemorate Britain’s first national park and its special qualities. The colours chosen for the design of the tartan represent the dramatic heather moorland hills and rock edges in the north and limestone dales and rivers in the south. The tartan will be used in garments, soft furnishings and specially designed products.
