Registration notes: Edward Bransfield was an Irish Antarctica explorer. Bransfield was the first to land on and claim King George Island for the British Crown. He was arguably the first to discover the Antarctic Peninsula. Bransfield Strait, Island and Mount, all located in Antarctica, are named after him and the colours chosen represent these regions: white for ice and clouds; dark blue for the Antarctic Ocean; light blue for the icebergs; black for the volcanic rock and penguins; green for the algae and moss; orange for the lichen and penguins; red for the penguin rookeries.
