Registration notes: A personal tartan Scott McGlinchey and his sons; Chris, Nick and Ben to create a family tartan to recognise their family lineage. The design is based on a combination of the Anderson tartan sett owing to Mr McGlinchey’s mother’s maiden name and incorporates the Thomson tartan, in recognition of Mr. McGlinchey’s wife’s maiden name. The sett also acknowledges the Gray Hunting sett, Scott’s grandmother’s maiden name, creating a distinctive yet traditional design. The colours are of significance to the family: dark blue represents their home town of Edinburgh; blue is taken from the Anderson Modern tartan; green connects to their family roots in Ireland; red and brown connecting back to the Thomson tartan.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
