Registration notes: The tartan for the Swedish hickory golf player and club maker Ingvar Ritzén is based on the Fife District tartan whose roots go back to the time of Old Tom Morris, the legendary St. Andrews’ golfer and the father of modern greenkeeping. In this design, the greens and fairways are represented by the dark green and dark blue represents the Ritzén’s holiday base on the Firth of Clyde. Brown is for the long sandy beaches of Ayrshire; the bunkers on its many golf courses; the leather grips on hickory clubs and Maria Ritzén’s love of horse-riding. The yellow, blue and white seams are for the Swedish flag and for the Scottish Saltire. Those three lines also represent Ingvar and Maria’s three children. Surrounding them are 30 threads of blue for the couple’s 30th wedding anniversary on 27th May 2019.
