Registration notes: On June 20, 1907, Mary Schaffer, her best friend and two guides set off on an expedition they had planned for months. Their 1907 explorations shaped the future of Jasper and their 1908 expedition brought Maligne Lake and Spirit Island to the attention of the World. Accounts of what Mary Schaffer and other early explorers saw has woven a legend of Canadian wilderness that to this day compels people to seek it out. Stories boast Maligne Lake has some of the most spectacular scenery found anywhere. The colours chosen in this tartan reflect that scenery.
