Registration notes: The MERIT tartan has been commissioned by John Farley, Founder and Director of a conglomerate of industries; Seafood and Packaging, based in and around the heart of the historic Scottish fishing port of Fraserburgh, north east Scotland. The tartan has been designed to unify the companies through a single distinct branded design. The name MERIT has been chosen from a combination of MER, the French for Sea, in support of their expanding business relations with France, and IT taken from the company’s Packaging division, I Box It. The tartan is based on the ‘Lovat or Fraser’ sett due to the companies location in the Fraserburgh region. Incorporating the brand colours; Dark Grey and White, along with dark orange, smoke grey and salmon pink to represent all the elements and associated industries within the MERIT Group.
