Restrictions: Yes. Intended for the personal use of James Cavendish, current owner of Buittle Castle, and his household, as well as those to whom permission to wear the tartan is granted.
Must not be woven or sold without the written permission of the owner or his agents.
Registration notes: A hunting sett designed for use on the Buittle Estate and by its current owner. It is based on the original James Cavendish tartan (ref. 12646), which is, in turn, based loosely on the Maxwell sett - the Maxwells being historic owners of the Buittle Estate. The overcheck represents Field Sports, the two gold lines representing the two golden threads of the hunter, respectful conservation and the tradition of countryside pursuits, keeping the sanguinity of the hunt, represented by the prominent red stripe, within due bounds.
