Registration notes: A tartan for the Special Observers Association. The designer served with a specialist organisation within the Royal Artillery called, 4/73 (Sphinx) Special Observation Post Battery. Their motto is ‘Lateo’ which means ‘We lie hidden’. The colours are intended to have specific meaning; black represents the Battery stable belt; grey represents the term used by the reconnaissance and surveillance unit "...to remain grey" which is a reference to remaining unseen; green represents the specialist qualification badge which is a green Observation Post triangle and red has been included in remembrance of Special Observers who never returned from operations.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
