This tartan can only be woven with the express permission of John Smedley Limited. All enquiries of this nature must be issued to John Smedley Ltd for the attention of the company Directors.
Registration notes:	John Smedley Limited was formed in 1784, making it one of the world's oldest textile manufacturing factories. The company, and legacy of John Smedley, was with 8th generation family member Ian Maclean at the time this tartan was created. Due to the rich history of the company, from pioneering the 'Long John' to driving forward sustainable fabrics and textile technology for the future, Ian felt the time was right to add the first official tartan to the company’s story. The design was inspired by the Maclean of Duart tartan, c. early 19th century, to honour Ian’s connection with Clan MacLean and combined with the navy blue of the John Smedley Limited brand. The tartan is intended to acknowledge the strong cultural and textiles connection the company has with Scotland.
