Registration notes: This tartan represents the Atlantic Association of Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs). Starting from a federal-provincial government funding pilot programme that began in 1975, 41 Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs) now assist in the creation and expansion of small businesses in rural Atlantic Canada through the provision of financial and advisory assistance to entrepreneurs. CBDCs are not-for-profit community based organizations governed by independent volunteer Boards of Directors from the local business community, people who firmly believe in improving the economic viability of their communities.
