Registration notes: This family tartan for John Dunnet is based on the 1819 Green MacKay from Wilsons of Bannockburn (STA #703). The first significant feature is the brown lines on green which represent the traditional lines of peat that - when a boy - John dug with his grandfather. Where those lines cross and form a mesh, they're for his grandfather's fishing creels that John helped to pull up from the seabed. Those lines of brown number four and they celebrate John being a fourth generation Freemason in the footsteps of his father, grandfather and great grandfather. Finally, his lifetime in the fire service is remembered with the red from the Highlands & Islands Fire Brigade badge and the dedication of that service is woven into the design with 24 threads of black and 7 threads of grey.
