Registration notes: The Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy was formed in 2001 and is bestowed every second year by the Carnegie family of institutions. It was created at the centennial observance of Andrew Carnegie's career as a philanthropist. Incorporating official colours of the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, the design includes: blue threads at the pivot of the design, which is symbolic of Andrew's first earnings in the USA at the age of 13, $1.20 per week as a bobbin boy in a cotton mill, and the 5 days he worked for his first wage, to later give away all of his wealth to help others. These blue threads are then surrounded by 18 yellow threads and then 35 gold threads to represent his year of birth 1835. Repeated 10 ten times in the sett is 20 navy threads and 2 blue threads, acknowledging at the time of this tartans creation 10 years of medals have been awarded and as a reminder the tartan was created in 2022.
