Registration notes: Ayr Rugby Football Club was founded on Wednesday 22nd September 1897 in the King's Arms Hotel, Ayr. The original Club colours were black and cerise. The Club played at many local sportsgrounds for the next 65 years before an Extraordinary General Meeting took place in 1962 where the purchase of the Club's home ground, Millbrae, was agreed. In 1984, the committee met to formally agree the exact shade of Ayr RFC cerise as over the years, the shade had become far paler. A tassel of yarn was produced and formalised as the official shade and this tassel is still held at the Club. In 2019, the addition of a part time professional team at Millbrae, the Ayrshire Bulls added grey to the iconic pink and black colours. The Club celebrated it's 125 year anniversary in season 2022/23 and to mark this achievement, the Club commissioned this tartan to be worn by their players and supporters.
