Registration notes: The Perseverance Tartan was adopted by the Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) Regimental Society for the 125th anniversary of Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians). The Regiment was raised by a Scot, Donald Smith, Lord Strathcona and Mount Royal. 'The Perseverance' uses the definite article to highlight the regimental motto’s instantiation as Society device. The design and registration were a gift to the Regimental Society by the designer. Colours: red is intended to represent Canada and and is a Regimental Colour; green is a Regimental Colour; yellow, representing gold, is for WWI Cavalry Brigade patch, and 'The Last Spike'; black is for the RCAC Beret and Fallen Comrades and Cavalry Blue for WW I Cavalry Brigade Patch and Alberta Sky. The black stripes are intended to represent the parallel tracks left by armoured vehicles and the cross of blue and gold is intended to evoke cavalry overalls.
