Registration notes: This tartan was inspired by the designer’s life in the Canadian Rockies and his indigenous heritage. The name “Spirit of the Mountains” was chosen to honour the sacredness of mountains to indigenous peoples and to acknowledge others who also experience this alluring call of the mountains. Colours: grey is intended to represent the stone that rises from the earth to form mountains; light blue is for glacial ice; dark green is for the hardy pines, spruces and firs that grow at high elevations; white is intended to represent snow-capped peaks; blue is for the sky and purple is for the thistle that grows in the mountain landscapes and to honour the connection to the designer’s heritage in the highlands of Scotland.
