Registration notes: The Royal Artillery tartan celebrates all past and present personnel, and achievements attached to the Royal Artillery since its formation on 26th May 1716. In 1716 King George I issued a Royal Warrant to set up two permanent field artillery companies of 100 men each. The Royal Artillery motto is ‘Ubique’, meaning ‘Everywhere’. Also known as ‘the Gunners’, the Royal Artillery are everywhere across the battlefield, providing the British Army with its eyes, ears and firepower. The Royal Artillery tartan features historical colours associated with them: dark blue is intended to represent their beret; red, blue and yellow signifies the colours of their stable belt and black is for continual respect for all fallen Royal Artillery comrades.
