Registration notes: The U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement Tartan was created in 2017 through the collective work of Homeland Security Investigations Special Agents in Newark, NJ, USA; the House of Edgar, Scotland; and New Jersey-based kilt maker Missy O’Kane. The colours and weave were chosen to reflect both the band and agency’s origins and purpose. Red, white, and blue are intended to represent the Flag of the United States, with the blue doubling as a reference to the agents’ status as law enforcement officers, and yellow, representing gold, for the traditional colour of U.S. federal law enforcement officers’ badges. The design incorporates elements intended to remember the events of September 11 2001. The events of September 11 and the lives lost led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE). The tartan will be used by members of ICE and worn in memory of those lost and the efforts of all who responded to the terrorist attacks.
Information notes: The tartan is woven with a grey stripe in the weft.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
