Registration notes:	The tartan was inspired after the designer witnessed an unusually bright double rainbow, during a heavy cloudburst in full sunshine, appearing over Arbroath east coast of Scotland on 9th May 2014. The sett reflects the seven colours of the spectrum and portrays Alexander's Dark Band, the optical phenomenon associated with rainbows and named after Alexander of Aphrodisias (the celebrated Peripatetic philosopher from Ancient Greece) who first described it in AD 200. The grey pivot represents the second bow occasionally seen in the cloud. As rainfall can be a common occurrence in Scotland the designer wanted to celebrate the dramatic Scottish cloudscapes, sunlit rainbows and rains - which when gracing the land bring forth stunning natural beauty. The blue in the weave pays tribute also to Scotland's streams, rivers and lochs. The tartan is intended for any individual or group wishing to be represented by a rainbow-themed tartan.
