Registration notes: The Loretto School tartan is based on the Musselburgh district tartan. Elements of the MacThomas and MacDonald tartans have been included within the design to acknowledge the school’s founder, Reverend Thomas Langhorne and the headmastership of Dr Hely Hutchinson Almond. Colours: red represents the iconic red jacket worn by the pupils; blue, green, pink and purple represent the four houses of the school; Mackintosh; Langhorne, Greenlees and Tristram.
