Registration notes: The INSEAD Tartan is a gift from the Scottish alumni to INSEAD to celebrate its number one placing in the 2016 Financial Times MBA Ranking. The INSEAD Tartan has as its base the brand colours of dark and bright green taken from the forest of Fontainebleau where INSEAD was founded. Mary, Queen of Scots was queen Consort of France from 1559 – 1560 and as such a historic link between Scotland and France and this led to the choice of the Royal Stewart tartan as the basis of the design. Also incorporated are elements of the Clan Farquharson tartan because Major-General William Farquhar was the first British Resident and Commandant of Singapore where INSEAD has a second campus. The gold lines represent academic excellence, which lies at the heart of INSEAD’s culture.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
