Registration notes: The original ‘Bean of Freeport’ tartan was registered in 1988 for L.L. Bean Inc, Freeport, Maine, USA, who are outdoor sporting specialists, to commemorate their 75th Anniversary. This ‘Dress’ Bean of Freeport tartan, has been designed as part of collection in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the original Bean of Freeport Tartan and follows a similar sett to the original, however has been simplified to a modern design. The strong white base represents the wintery landscape of Maine and is a particularly significant season within the L.L. Bean calendar for enjoying the outdoors. The green represents the rich dark green of the outdoors for which L.L. Bean is known for, this colour is also known as ‘Bean Green’ and is used in their logo. Black and red pay homage to their heritage and original tartan. Whilst the Yellow commemorates the founder L.L. Bean himself and his original ‘Bean Boot’ design with its distinctive yellow laces still made in Maine-one pair at a time-by expert craftspeople.
