Tartan Details - Spirit of Berwickshire

The information held within The Scottish Register of Tartans for the "Spirit of Berwickshire" tartan is shown below.

Reference: 12158
Designer: McGill, David
Tartan date: 15/05/2018
Registration date: 12 June 2018
Category: Fashion
Restrictions: Yes.
May only be woven with express written permission from International Tartans or ReTweed (a registered charity based in Eyemouth).

Registration notes: The green, gold and black of this tartan are taken from the former Coat of Arms of Berwick County Council which showed a bear chained to a wych elm tree, a pun on the County's name: bear + wych = Berwick. The blue crossed by purple represents that most iconic of Scotland's rivers, the Tweed which, with the exception of the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed itself, forms the boundary between the historic Kingdoms of Scotland and England.
Registrant details: Ms Hazel Smith, 26 High Street, Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland, TD14 5EU
