Registration notes: The purpose of the tartan is be used in a tie to commemorate the opening of the new build Cumbernauld Academy in August 2019. Cumbernauld Academy originally opened in August 2014 as the result of the closure and merger of two schools, Abronhill High School and Cumbernauld High School. The colour is predominately purple; derived from the colour red used in the uniform of Abronhill High School and the blue from used in the uniform of Cumbernauld High School. The other colours; in particular the use of green, reflect our community and surrounding green belt. The tartan will be used as an identifying pattern for pupils and ex-pupils of the school.
