Registration notes: Designed to commemorate General Stanislaw Maczek, Commander of 1st Polish Armoured Division and Commander of the Polish Forces in the UK, who is the patron of the school. He was a significant leader in the 20th century, who took part in both world wars and afterwards settled in Edinburgh, where he died at the age of 102. The colours were chosen to represent General Mazek’s army career with orange for the emblem of the 1st Armored Division and green for the soldiers’ uniforms. Red from the Polish flag and blue from the Scottish flag sit together in the design to represent the school’s special relationship between Poland and Scotland, as well as, the two homelands for General Maczek.
Woven Sample: A woven sample of this tartan has been received by the Scottish Register of Tartans for permanent preservation in the National Records of Scotland.
