The amalgamation of The Royal Green Jackets, The Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry, the Light Infantry, and the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Light Infantry was formed in the crucible of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Rifles Regiment holds an incredible 913 battle honours and a world record 117 Victoria Crosses (VC). The Rifles motto is: "Celer et Audax" meaning "Swift and Bold". This tartan has been created with the following significant colours connected to The Rifles Regiment, featured in their Tactical Recognition Flash: Green, Red and Black. White represents the bugle, featured in their crest. Black is also for continual respect for all fallen Rifles comrades.
