Registration notes: The Sassenach design has been inspired by the story of the Great Glen Company and founder Sam Heughan. Sassenach is a historic Scottish term meaning English person or Lowland Scot. Sam, a Scottish actor, has become synonymous with the phrase where both on screen and off screen Sam uses Sassenach as a term of endearment. Sam, who would refer to himself as a Sassenach, was born in Dumfries, part of lowland Scotland in 1980. The threadcount of the tartan reflects dates and time of meaning to the company whilst adopting a subtle black and grey colour palette. The four shades within the tartan have been inspired by Scotland’s dark landscape, from rigid natural rock formations to the heavy skies rolling in the glens.
