Registration notes: |
Created to celebrate the dawn of Artificial Intelligence, the tartan was systematically designed by an AI language model based on advanced machine learning algorithms. The colours: navy blue, bright gold, two shades of grey, red & green, are intended to represent mankind's vast knowledge, enlightenment, impartiality, journey of learning, creativity & innovation, and the environmental impact of AI's evolution. Significant numbers in the threadcount (42, 256 & 56) nod to ‘Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy’, the maximum values in a computing byte & neural network, and 1956, the year of the foundational Dartmouth Workshop. It is intended to honour one of the ‘founding fathers’ John McCarthy, who coined ‘Artificial Intelligence’ in a collaborative 1955 proposal for the project and whose legacy is remembered on October 24th. Overall, the tartan is intended to capture the essence of AI development, its impact on the world while also warning about its potential risks & unintended consequences. |
