Registration notes: This tartan was inspired by the aircraft of the Allied air forces during D-Day as part of Operation Overlord. Friendly aircraft were painted with white and black stripes on the fuselage and wings, the colours have been incorporated into this design. Other colours are green, grey and brown intended to represent the aircraft’s upper sides; blue for the sea and grey for the ships of the naval forces which transported the land forces to the 5 brown beaches of Normandy where so many fell, indicated by the black threads. The threadcount includes numbers of significance intended to represent; air force personnel; the date June 6, 1944 and the 5 beaches.
