The Higgins School of Highland Dance Tartans, created for the school’s 15th anniversary, serve as a tribute to the heritage and community that shaped HSHD. The designs were inspired by a mix of tartans that reflect the school's roots, its regional ties, and Kathleen’s family history in Cape Breton and Ontario. Combining elements of local tartans and Nova Scotia symbols, they embody the deep connection between the school, its location, and the province. The blue represents the waters of Dartmouth, while the warm yellow and red echo the Nova Scotia tartan. The colours also draw from the Cape Breton tartan, the Ontario provincial tartan, the Dartmouth City of Lakes tartan, the Heritage of Halifax tartan, and Nova Scotia’s provincial flag. A purple stripe honours HSHD’s original brand colour, evolving with the school’s growth and new branding in blue, white, black, and yellow. The tartans symbolize the school’s enduring spirit, history, and connection to its home. |
