Tartan Details - Salvation Army Dress

The information held within The Scottish Register of Tartans for the "Salvation Army Dress" tartan is shown below.

STA ref: 546
STWR ref: 546
Designer: Dalgety, Jack
Tartan date: 01/01/1983
Registration date: This tartan was recorded prior to the launch of The Scottish Register of Tartans.
Category: Corporate
Registration notes: Designed by Jack Dalgety in 1983 to celebrate the centenary of the Perth Citadel Corps. The red is said to symbolise the blood of Christ and the blue refers to 'The Heavanly Father' and the yellow the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Design sometimes mistakenly attributed to Capt. H. Cooper. Sample in Scottish Tartans Authority Dalgety Collection. The original graphic had a count of B20 R32 K4 Y8 K4 B148 but on inspection of the woven sample that count was shown to be in error and the graphic was thus changed to the present version. Sole agents (Dec 2003) appear to be Kirk Wynd Highland House of St.Andrews - [email protected].

Please note

Where tartans were recorded before the establishment of the Scottish Register of Tartans (SRT) on 5 February 2009, the original Scottish Tartans Authority (STA) and the Scottish Tartans World Register (STWR) reference numbers have been retained. The new SRT reference number can be found in the address box on your browser (url).

The registration criteria now applied by the Register conforms to the Scottish Register of Tartans Act 2008. These criteria are different to those previously applied by either the STA or the STWR. You may wish to refer to the STA website for further information on the original recording of this tartan.
